“Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place.” — Rumi

I didn’t realize how loud life had gotten – until I started to hear the stillness.

The road from New York to rural Pennsylvania was more than just miles on a map. It was a quiet shift, a slow unlearning of speed, and the start of something I didn’t know I was longing for.

Maybe it’s the warm smiles and easy conversations between us residents in between seeing patients, or the patients sharing stories of children at the local events. Or maybe it’s the quiet, still mornings on the porch, watching nature awaken before sunrise.

I came to this town thinking I would heal its people. Little did I know, it would be the town that’s healing me.
